What influences our designs? What drives the designer to create? How do designers adapt to the world around them and how do their designs respond? What innovations come from these adaptations and experiences? These questions and many more are often what make up the story behind a project and the designer. Designs become embodiments of many interweaving narratives. One important story that is often overlooked and unrecognized is the story of the designer. This purpose of this edition of SPACEWORK is to uncover the student VOICE buried beneath the design. SPACEWORK 08 highlights and showcases personal anecdotes and their relation to the design, capturing a diverse collection of CABE’s student VOICES. Compared to previous editions, SPACEWORK 08 is the first ever digital publication, providing an accessible platform to capture an even wider audience than before.
SPACEWORK 08 amplifies the students’ VOICES, providing the student a platform to share their untold story. With a more transparent and intimate lens, we are able to provide an inside look at the freedom of expression that students take in their work and these unique perspectives allow the reader to personally get to know the students that make up CABE. By creating the space and opportunity for students to share their stories alongside their work, we will advocate for the representation of all VOICEs within CABE. |
