Interaction Hub: Dox Thrash Community Center
from Design 3 Architecture Studio with Prof. Andrew Hart
The mission for this design was to keep the original facades of Dox Thrash and its two neighboring rowhouses while making a completely new structure behind it. This Interaction Hub is a community space that promotes connectivity and interaction between different generations in an ample, transparent space.

"Being interested in learning more about my cultural background and being able to visit motherland has majorly influenced the way I see and think about things." |
How has your heritage influenced your designs?
Much of the Chinese culture revolves around a "core" or a "main thing." I find myself grasping that idea and have begun designing all my projects around a central focus. Also, in the Asian culture, integration of nature and minimalism is a big thing because it allows users to focus on the essence of the space rather than being surrounded by distractions. I find myself being drawn to that, and have been trying to keep both of these in mind and as main players in all my projects. |
