This project represents the connection that can come from food and sharing of one’s culture. The restaurant is based as a 3-dimensional expansion of the Filipino food truck Tabachoy’s brand identity and influenced by their impact within the community. The community table serves as a landmark in the restaurant facilitating a connection among people and between the two floors of the space. The use of colors from Tabachoy’s logo, natural elements such as the wooden tables, rattan bar, and plant wall incorporate branding along with Filipino influences, allowing a sharing of cultural experiences within the space.

This project embodies the studios focus throughout the semester on non-western cultures and food. The Filipino food truck Tabachoy strives to share the owners’ culture with others through sharing his food. This project connects to this idea of social change by providing a place that could further this sharing of cultures and experiences while allowing the formation of connections between people. By being introduced to other cultures and other people it can help to change people's perspectives and open them to more experiences. This restaurant design has an emphasis on the connection between people through the use of the community table that changes what often the typical restaurant experience is. Instead of sitting at a separate table, community members have a chance to interact through the shared table space.
