The College of Architecture and the Built Environment has long-standing pride in the collective identity of its students. This so-called "Studio Culture" establishes an environment of collaboration and genuine connection across programs and years. Through formal documents and word-of-mouth alike, these guiding principles inform the expected behaviors of each student and faculty member, and the promised kinship they can find among their collegiate community.
Each new generation of students brings their own contributions to the culture at CABE, which by its very nature evolves along with the population it represents. Through virtual learning, connections have been made across the world, bringing more diverse jurors to participate in crits and expanding the various perspectives within the lecture halls and studios. This outreach strengthened our local connections and established more partnerships within Philadelphia and beyond. Despite the socialization challenges of the past two years, we recognize that the individual student cannot be isolated, but survives and thrives on the mutual support, sympathy, and encouragement of their peers. CABE prepares our students to be leaders, in their work and communities, and recognizes that such strength of character must grow from students taking leadership of their own education. |
